History
The transgender pride flag represents transgender people, meaning people whose gender identity is different from the sex they were assigned at birth. It was designed by Monica Helms in 1999 and first flown at a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona in 2000. Helms chose light blue for the traditional baby-boy color, pink for the traditional baby-girl color, and white in the middle for people who are transitioning, nonbinary, or outside the gender binary.
