History
The Queer Flag represents people who identify as queer, an umbrella word for anyone whose sexuality or gender does not fit straight or cisgender norms; some use it instead of a more specific label, others use it alongside one. It emerged from online LGBTQ+ communities as the reclaimed term 'queer' became more widely embraced after decades of being used as a slur. The flag spread through forums and social media rather than through any single organization. The colors are sky blue, light blue, lime green, pink, red, yellow, white, and black.
