History
The queer anarchism flag represents queer people who are also anarchists, meaning they reject ruling hierarchies like the state and link queer liberation with broader struggles against authority. 'Queer' is an umbrella term for people whose sexuality or gender falls outside straight, cisgender norms. The flag emerged from grassroots activist communities rather than a single designer, often appearing at protests, squats, and mutual-aid spaces from the 2000s onward. The colors are magenta and black, drawing on the pink stripe long associated with queer identity alongside the traditional black of anarchism.
